Boston Mass, August 17, 1904.
A nice reunion ribbon for the 37th gathering of the 1st Connecticut Cavalry in Boston, Mass, August 17th, 1904.
The yellow silk (6 1/2″) bears crossed sabers beneath a decorative upper border, all in silver lettering. The ribbon is made by Whitehead & Hoag Co., Newark, N.J. In very good condition with some light soiling only. The ribbon is more gold in color than it appears in the photo.
Where this ribbon does not name the 1st Conn. Cavalry specifically, it was the only cavalry regiment raised in the state during the war. There was a 1st Conn. Cavalry Squadron that was attached to the 2nd New York Cavalry, and this reunion may very well have combined both units for this reunion.
1st Conn. Cavalry material is not easily obtainable.
