4th Artillery Officer’s Bullion Cap Insignia. Worn on either forage caps or slouch hats, etc. from the Civil War era to the early Indian Wars period.
Made of gold bullion thread, done on black wool. The center pad with the silver bullion “4” is regulation.
Brown cotton backing.
Fine condition.
