Description

This badge was issued through the 55th Regiment Pennsylvania Veteran Volunteer Association, as stated on the reverse of this colorful, Army Corps badge related piece.

3 inches high and suspended from a red, white, and blue silk ribbon, the badge takes on the initial shape of the 18th AC, 2nd Division (white), 10th AC, 3rd Division (blue), and the 24th AC heart, 1st Division (red) with the regiment number at its center.

The 55th first saw service in North Carolina, and later in the war, served in these 3 different corps in The Army of the James, being heavily engaged at Drury’s Bluff, and other major battles resulting from the Union Army’s movements in the Petersburg campaigns.
