Description
71st Infantry Division Ashtray & Patch. A well made souvenir using part of an aircraft piston for the ashtray and a finely engraved brass distinctive unit insignia for the 5th Infantry Regiment, of the 71st Infantry Division.
The 5th Infantry Regiment was the first U.S. Army regiment to cross over the Danube River, and first to enter Austria.
This ashtray was made after the close of the war.
Also, an interesting note; Ike’s son John Eisenhower served with the 71st Division at the close of the war.
I through in the 71st Division patch (an original) for a splash of color, and included with the ashtray.
Nearly 5 inches in diameter.
Fine condition.
