A Sharp Colt 1860 Army Revolver – Martially Marked.
Model 1860 Colt Army Revolver – Martially Marked, serial number 95747, and manufactured in 1863. Inspector markings on barrel, cylinder, backstrap, trigger guard, both sides and bottom of grips. A well maintained revolver with lots of original color remaining. Barrel and cylinder have a nice blend of blue mixing with brown, a bit less blue on the cylinder. An over-stamp of the number “4” on the cylinder is a period factory correction (4 over a &). The backstrap retains its blue with wear; blue on the butt has more wear and dings from improper use. The cylinder scene is very strong and would rate as fine -exc. Frame has good traces of case color, and color on frame screws. Barrel has the Colt New York address; and the feathering on either side of the front sight is visible.
Grips show light even wear, with both inspector cartouches visible. Bore VG, needing a cleaning. Mechanically sound. The wedge is a period replacement with a serial number.
No history with this one, but does fall in the range of the 13th New York, and 18th Pennsylvania Cavalry.
