Description
American Vent Pick & Brush.
This 1820s- Mexican War era musket tool, is quite typical of most vent or cone picks and brushes of the period. Made of brass chain, pick and bristle holder, this tool was usually attached to the shoulder belt plate of the cartridge box for easy access to clean out the barrel vent and brush residue from the pan after excessive firing.
Suspended is approximately 9 inches.
There is some verdigris on the brass, and the bristles are in fine condition.
