Made by Bailey, Banks, & Biddle, Philadelphia, marked “BB& B / BRONZE.” Bronze and red enamel design for the 603rd Artillery (Railway), CAC. This unit was organized at Schuykill Arsenal, Philadelphia in December, 1923. Redesignated 603rd Coast Artillery (Railway) Regiment in 1924. The unit was disbanded on August 22, 1942.
This is a nice early insignia made by this well known firm, and is a scarce distinctive insignia. It is seen in the provided photograph from the 1928 BB& B catalog.
Condition is very good with a small chip at the lower point about an 1/8″ wide down to the point.
