Boldly Painted M1 Tank Destroyer Helmet & Liner SOLD

Description

I wish I knew who “P.S.P.” was, for he had a great WW2 painted helmet!  This M1 helmet with the original liner to it, is painted with the boldest Tank Destroyer insignia you could ever hope for.  The diameter is approximately 5 1/2 inches. The soldier’s initials are painted below the insignia.  A dark green diamond trimmed in white on the reverse is likely some formation, or unit insignia, and finished off on the lower side with a bit freelance brush work in white.

The liner, although it does not have the Tank Destroyer insignia painted on, does have the same initials cut in on the underside of the liner’s brim.  A “skull and crossbones” has been drawn on the front. I do not know the significance. The initial of P.S.P. are also written on the canvas chinstrap.  Liner is made by International Molded Plastics Inc.

There is no leather chinstrap on the liner.
