Description

Cased 2nd Delaware Infantry Epaulets In Tin.  The tin label reads, J.M. MIGEOD & SON /  510 RACE ST. ,/ PHILIDA  / MANUFACTURERS.  The epaulets have no markings. Fine quality that may have been manufactured by S.J CO / LONDON, as this is the marking on the general staff buttons.  There seems to be a ghost mark where another maker label was applied to the top of the lid on the case, with this makers label applied just above. Typical construction, with red padding on the underside, and Moroccan leather used for the shoulder extensions.  2nd regiment insignia made using silver and gilt bullion on light blue velvet. Rather large 1st lieutenant’s rank pin in place.

No pulls to the bullion fringe, with some toning to the gilt;  and wear to velvet and leather on the underside. The tin has a good deal of the original Japanning, and a bent lid on the right front from heavy weight crashing down on it.

These came from a good source, but the name of the 2nd Delaware officer was lost.

Priced as a nice case set.
