Description
Captured in this Brady image in the series, “Illustrations of Camp Life,” is this New York soldier standing guard before the company equipment tent; filled with crates, wheelbarrows, a lounging soldier, and piles of great stuff that no doubt went to Bannerman’s.
The subject moved ever so slightly, but the “71” on the front of the cap is clear enough. The 71st wore this state type shell jackets with piping. A knapsack and musket are set up in the foreground.
Trimmed as was the custom for fitting into a cdv album,
Very good-fine condition,
From the Michael McAfee Collection
