Description
CDV – Colonel James Selfridge 46th Pennsylvania Infantry. Selfridge was first commissioned a captain in the 1st Penn. Infantry; a three month regiment. He was mustered in with the 46th Penn. Infantry on August 8,1861 as a Lt. Col. and later promoted to Colonel. The regiment fought quite a few big named battles in the east, such as Antietam, Cedar Mountain, Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg, before being sent to re-enforce General Sherman’s army on its march to the sea. Selfridge received a brevet of brigadier general at war’s end.
