Description

This unidentified infantryman in frock coat, accoutrements and either a Springfield Rifled Musket or one of the 1861 contract muskets.  He stands holding  his musket with bayonet in a position of great advantage  were we are able to see the pattern of the weapon.  There is unit number or letter on the crown of his cap, but can’t make it out.  This came from a lot of images that was predominately New York State,

There is an old pencil inscription on the reverse that reads, “Mrs. Mary R.C. Chafin(?)”

A nice quality image with no photographer back mark.
