Description

CDV of John Foster Pope, who first enlisted in the 13th Mass Infantry on July 16,1861 as a private.  He was commissioned into Co. “K” 1st Mass. Heavy Artillery on May 4, 1862 (first designated as 14th Mass Infantry), and he was later discharged for wounds received at Petersburg on June 16, 1864.  He held ranks as 2nd and 1st Lieutenant and captain.

The mount has a small piece of paper attached with his name and unit info, done a long time ago, a part of a 1st Mass HA collection. Nicely signed on the reverse,
