Description
This private, and most likely a bugler, poses in his 1854 Pattern field musician’s shell jacket, mounted trousers, and forage cap. The number on the crown of the cap is rounded, possibly a 3, 6, 9. (those are my best guesses looking at the shadows. Although the Photographer is Meade Bros. NYC, this soldier could be state or regular army.
Very good condition, with some light staining on mount lower right.
From the Michael McAfee Collection.
