Description
CDV – Major General Otho C Ord, graduated from the USMA Class of 1839, along with his roommate, William Tecumseh Sherman. Ord was in command of Fort Vancouver, Washington Territory, but came east to command a brigade of Pennsylvania Volunteers. He had commands in the Army of The Tennessee, and Dept. of the Gulf. Later, assigned to the Army of the James, Ord was at the surrender of the Confederate Army at the McLean House, and purchased a marble top table were General Lee sat behind for $40. Dollars. Ord held many commands in the Army after the Civil War, and died from Yellow Fever, in 1883.
