Great shot of a cavalry sergeant with a cross above the chevron on his shell jacket.
Photographed by A.S. Baldwin, Columbus, Ohio, this image of a cavalry sergeant, show him wearing an interesting cross above his chevron, and is perhaps unique.
The shell jacket otherwise is regulation as is the mounted trousers. The saber my be a heavy M1840 pattern. His slouch hat with black ostrich feather is on the chair beside him.
A fine image.
