Description
CDV – Signed By 1st Lieutenant Alexander L. Robeson 24th NJ Infantry KIA.
Alexander L. Robeson, was commissioned into the 24th New Jersey Infantry on September 2, 1862, as a 2nd Lt. in Co. H. He was killed on December 13, 1862 at Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Robeson was born in Newport, Delaware on Feb. 5, 1834. He enlisted into the 24th NJ on September 2, 1862 as a 1st Lt. of Co. H. His regiment was part of the 2nd Army Corps, and were the first units to attack the confederate positions in the rear of Fredericksburg on the 13th of December, and the battle rages until dark. Many attempts were made to find the wounded and the died, but Robeson’s body was never found.
