Children of the American Revolution Badges, Engraved & Numbered to the Children of an American Army Officer. This lot includes an additional badge that I have not yet identified.

The pair of C.A.R. badges belonged to Sara Learoyd Wescott, and Robert Hayes Wescott, Jr., children of Robert Hayes Wescott, Sr., an Army officer with service beginning in the Spanish American War.  Each badge is 22mm high, made of gilt brass (assumably), featuring a gilt eagle with American Flag horizontally position in front, with a circular riband with society name in gilt with light blue enamel.  Pin back with a locking catch. Maker is JEC & Co.  Both are engraved with member number, beginning with Sara – 26587, and Jr. – 27134.  Each one is excellent condition.

The other larger piece is maker marked BB&B (Bailey Banks & Biddle) SILVER. Attempts to find the society have been unsuccessful to date. There are no other markings, and has the same pin style with locking catch. 40mm high.

Robert, Sr.  Entered U.S. service from Wisconsin (born same), Private in “G” Co. 2nd Wisconsin Infantry 28 April to 10 November, 1898. 2nd Lieutenant 2nd U.S. Infantry 1899, 1st Lieutenant 16th Infantry – February 2, 1901. He is still a 1st Lt. in 1905 and with the 16th Infantry. I only have a 1918 Army Register so what he did between 1905 to 1918 is not know presently. He was promoted to Captain in 1908; Major in 1917; and discharged from service in June of 1918.   He was restored to active service in November of 1918 in the National Army. The register records Wescott as being a graduate of the Army School of the Line in 1910.
