Description
The gold bullion thread is toned with age on this pair of Major’s shoulder straps, otherwise, they are in fine condition with light wear only. Length is 3 7/8 and 1 1/2 wide approximately; deep red velvet still plush. The backing is a polished brown cotton.
It looks that these were never on uniform, with on evidence threads or holes for same.
Artillery rank is much harder to find in this period. This smaller size probably intended for wear on a sack coat.
