Photographed by the Oriental Photograph Company, Gettysburg, Pa. BATTLE-FIELD OF GETTYSBURG Series. This view entitled, ” Group of Dead. Devil’s Den.”
This view was staged with local citizens at Devils’ Den, dress in uniforms. The image, was taken in November of 1863, just about the time of President Lincoln’s visit to Gettysburg to deliver his famous “Gettysburg Address.” Note the absence of leaves on the trees in the background.
