Cased Colt ’49 Two Line New York Address Pocket Revolver. 5″ Barrel, 5 shot, .31 caliber. Serial No. 127748. Manufactured in 1857.
Large trigger guard, and back strap retains a good amount of the original silver plating. Fine condition overall with strong blue finish, on barrel, and light wear on cylinder. Top flat of barrel has two line address, “ADDRESS SAML. COLT-/ NEW YORK CITY.” Great stage coach scene, and cylinder pins overall good +. Excellent case colors on frame and loading lever. All matching serial numbers, Excellent walnut grips with one ding on right top side. Markings and mechanics Excellent. In as found condition.
The Colt case is lined in green velvet, and compartmented, holding an eagle flask with most of the original lacquer, combination tool, brass mold marked Colt’s Patent, and earlier type without grease groove, small Japanned Eley Bro cap tin, with caps, bagged lead round bullets, original key. The lid lining as applied the retailers paper label embossed in gilt for “Kingman & Hassum / Makers of Fine Cutlery, & Surgical Instruments, 128 Washington St. Boston.” This firm was working from 1855 -1860, then became Hassum Brothers. The outer case is fine overall. A gorgeous set made just prior to the Civil War.
