This is a fine conditioned 6 inch, 5 shot, .31 caliber, large trigger guard ’49 Colt Pocket revolver, made in 1860. Serial number is 181995, with all numbers matching, Original blue mixing with plum brown color on barrel and some in protected areas of cylinder; fine stage coach holdup scene as well. Some nice color remaining on frame, lever and hammer. Strong amount of silver remaining for a Hartford made revolver. The two line barrel address has the “L” in “Colt” showing the bottom right serif broken, which was common for his model. The walnut grips retain most of the original varnish, with some dings, more on the butt area. Mechanics are excellent. Bore is fine.
Only 12, 300 produced. Probably on the the most collected of the ’49 Pockets, being produced just before and during the Civil War.
A nice early Hartford produced Pocket revolver.
