Savin Rock, a part of West Haven, Connecticut was the location for the 41st Annual Reunion of the Conn. Cavalry Association on August 19, 1908.

The 6 inch gold ribbon bears the famous bust of General George Armstrong Custer, a later division commander for the 1st Conn. Cavalry Regiment. Custer is seen in this well know image of him in the wide brimmed slouch hat, the outlandish uniform with the signature red scarf about his neck.
