Early Model 1878 Canteen Sling with Civil War type flat hooks

Early Model 1878 Canteen Sling with Civil War type flat hooks. Although a bit rough, this is a very scarce canteen sling, assuming it to be one of the first produced using up Civil War era brass hooks for shoulder and rifle slings, etc. Made of black bridle leather now thinning in color. No markings.  Could this be a pre-RIA arsenal canteen sling?

Scarce piece in very good condition with leather sturdy. Has both the tightening slides.
