Description
A nice illustrated card with the G.A.R. member badge in four color on an oversized calling card, yet more of a business card, no doubt marketing her business to G.A.R. veterans and others at the time of the National Encampment in Philadelphia possibly in 1899.
The owner is a Mrs. T. Strauss of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and in doing some research the possible name I can find at present is a Tolbert Strauss who served in the 120th Ohio Infantry. She may have only used the member badge for advertising purposes.
Size of the card is 2 3/4 x 4 1/2 inches. There is central stain from where another object, probably from some tie string in place for many years. Overall in very good + condition.
