This badge came with the Lt. Ogden Album.
I listed a CDV of General Phil Sheridan that was presented from a person named “Lully” and certainly not inserted into the album by lieutenant Ogden, having been Killed in Action at Spottsylvania. Lully may very well have placed the Sheridan image in the album, and is a relative of the Ogden family, but only research will determine that.
Either way, the Post Commanders badge, has the eagle brooch removed and the rank bar added. A fancy pin reading, “POST/ 43/ G.A.R.” was pinned on the flag ribbon. The overall condition of the badge is very good, with a mellow age patina over all the brass surfaces. The flag ribbon shows fading, but intact, but beginning to tear from the hanging bar (see photo).
I offer this not knowing the history, but it may very well bear out to be related as a family piece.
