Hagner No.2 Cartridge Box Modified for cavalry use- Marked “J.H. Williamson.” This is a standard modification of the Hagner No. 2 cartridge box, which moved the closure strap from beneath the flap to the bottom of the box to allow the mounted trooper more ease in getting to his cartridges.  The puzzler here is the stamping on the back ” J.H. Williamson,” which does not look at all like a personalized stamp, but either a company or inspector (the later I doubt highly), never have noticed this stamp on any Hagners, nor have I seen any other dealer / collector sites make note of it.

Made using .50/70 canvas cartridge loops which holds 24 rounds.

Some areas of wear on edges and closure strap, overall in fine condition.
