INSTRUCTION FOR FIELD ARTILLERY. Prepared By A Board of ARTILLERY OFFICERS.  PHILADELPHIA: J.B. LIPPINCOTT & CO., 1860. Hard cloth covers, embossed in gold on spine and covers embossed with federal eagle and shield.  348 pages, 88 plates (79 in text-9 additional in rear, knot tying, bugle calls.

State book plate from Adjutant General’s Office on inner cover, tipped in manuscript notice and signature of John H. Reed, QrtMr Gen., dated August, 1860.

Table of Contents, by Parts; Organization, Materiel, and Service; Tactical Instruction; School of the Piece;  School of the Section; School of the Battery.

Light wear to cover, fading and bumped corners; book tight, and some water staining to pages mostly visible through front third, but will show up further in.  Not that noticeable.

I have not found Reed in online data for Civil War soldiers, most likely Reed remained in the state military through the war.
