Circa 1880 catalog with several color uniform plates.
This M.C. Lilley & Co. catalog contains 24 plates (the last is numbered for each figure on the plate, 24 and 25 respectively). All plates using chromolithography for both U.S. Army and Militia uniforms, and were done by Thos. Hunter of Philadelphia. There are no prices, as this color catalog was to be used in conjunction with ‘List No. 43.”
The period of the catalog appears to be about 1880 or so, but not earlier. The back cover displays an officer’s model 1880 mounted dress helmet for the 25th Infantry.
The blue paper wraps have been taped repaired mostly on the spine, but at least the covers were saved. Some paper loss at spine area.
Plates are most colorful and in fine condition.
First one of these we’ve seen.
