Massachusetts First Call Letter, May 30 (1861) At Camp Relay, Below Baltimore SOLD

This letter, written in pencil, describes the camp of (Cook’s Battery added in new notation, and can’t confirm this unit) ,at Camp Relay, near the Relay House, south of Baltimore, where several units of the First Call Massachusetts troops guarded the Viaduct there, early in the Civil War. The letter is transcribed for you in with the photos of this lot.  The writer is “Jim” and that is all I know, other than a WESTON GUARDS Complimentary Ticket for a military ball just before the war is included. Nice descriptive letter.  Needs some research.

The card is in fine condition. The letter has some minor issued in the folds.
