Description

During WWII, Colonel Emil C. Boehnke, was at Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force under General Dwight D. Eisenhower.  Boehnke, was subordinate to Brigadier General Thomas J. Davis during most of his time at SHAEF, but during Davis’ absence from February through October 1944 (Davis took command of the SHAEF Public Relations Division for that period), Boehnke had command of the Adjutant General Division during the period of D-Day planning, and invasion.  The AG was responsible for all administrative services, such as printing orders, all army correspondence, overseas personnel actions, records, decorations, and awards, and more.

Boehnke, (1896 -1980) entered service from California during the Mexican Border period in Headquarters Co. 23rd Infantry.  During WWI, he was a Master Sergeant in Hq Co. 5th Infantry (2nd Brigade) to 1922.  In WWII he served in North Africa (Allied Forces HQ), then at SHAEF in England, France, and Germany.  He retired in July of 1946 to disability in the line of duty.

Condition overall is very good-fine. Some small ships on the Nishan Iftikar commander medal
