Model 1878 Haversack Sling – Rosette Leather 1902 On.

The model 1878 haversack sling was originally made in black bridle leather, but in 1902 and on were made with rosette leather. In 1902, the 1878 canteen sling (thinner than the haversack sling) was dropped from production and the haversack sling was used for a short time for the canteen as well.

The leather shows use and is crackled overall, but sound and complete with the leather slides.  The Rock Island Arsenal and Inspector marks are present up harder to read.
