NEW INFORMATION on this CDV – Civil War U.S. Marine Corps Officer – 2nd Lt. William Bishop McKean

$450.00

I found the correct name of this Marine officer – See page 167 in The Civil War Uniforms of the United States Marine Corps – The Regulations of 1859, by Lt.Col.Charles Cureton, USMCR (Ret.), and  David M. Sullivan.  McKean was promoted to 1st Lt. 26 Nov. 1861, to captain in 1867; retired in 1870.

CDV – An Identified Civil War U.S. Marine Corps Officer.  Identified in period ink as “Lt. McKean,” and someone has written below their take on the name to be, Lt. McNume (incorrect).  Not sure of the name but this photo being a marine officer is without question.  The photograph’s applied backmark is for Broadbent & Co., Phila.  This officer was most likely assigned to the Philadelphia Navy Yard.

Fine condition.  Need further research.
