New York State Shako Plate Circa 1825 -30, with the original gold bullion looped cording for the shako still attached.
The plate is similar to the figure 559 & 598 (page 258-9) in Campbell & O’Donnell’s book of American Military Headgear Insignia. The plate is a die-struck brass, and never had in silver or gilt applied. This spread winged Federal eagle stands on the globe with a panoply of flags and cannon, with “simi-gloria” of clouds above.
3 5/8 high. Has two loops still applied for mounting to the shako.
The cording is in fine shape.
A great looking shako plate!
