Description

I bought this painting of Civil War Light Artillery “still life” if you will, at a New Hampshire country auction about 15 years ago, and recently acquired it from my original buyer.  I am assuming the age of the work is mid 20th century.

My search for the artist has lead me on a dead end, but then my art sources are limited for newer art.

The work displays a good variety of uniform and equipment used by the light artillery during the Civil War, with other other things like a photograph in the background.  Painted by Catherine Ross and signed on lower left, she did a super job with color and accuracy in the item depicted.  This would be a great addition to any Civil War or military collection room, or household for that matter.

The framing is original. Painting is 23 1/2 x 19 1/2, framing overall is 36x 32.

Some wear to the frame, and the painting is fine.
