Pattern 1839 Dragoon or Rifleman Oval US Belt Plate. Unmarked plate but similar to the Boyd & Sons, Boston marked plates as seen in Plate 484 in O’Donnell & Campbell’s book.  Oval lead cover belt studs (“puppy paws), affixed on the opposite side as the Infantry types.

Appears to be an unissued plate in excellent condition with most of the original luster on the front.
