This Certificate of Merit, issued by the Supreme Commander Allied Expeditionary Force, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, to Technician Forth Grade Calvin E. Mether, United States Army. The certificate bears the shoulder sleeve insignia of SHAEF.
This is the only one of these certificates that I have come across in many years of collecting SHAEF material. I have had the autograph looked at by several experts and I will guarantee the signature to be Eisenhower’s.
The document has minor foxing overall, and is framed but i don’t believe the framing is period WWII, but later.
