This Smith & Wesson Model 2 Army revolver, in .32 rimfire is in Fine-Ex condition. Address on the 8 inch tip-up barrel flat “SMITH & WESSON, SPRINGFIELD, MASS.” 6 shot cylinder bears patent dated stamped on it. Serial No. 3526, produced in early 1862. Blue finish on barrel and cylinder strong with brown metal patina at top and rear of frame. Cartridge extractor, trigger and hammer cased hardened show nice color. Grips are excellent with only a small chip on lower right bottom, and with matching serial number.
The original holster that accompanied this revolver is a fine example, with all stitching and muzzle plug intact. Flap has a brass finial for closure. Belt loop held in place by iron staples.
The photos don’t do justice to the barrel finish. The two noticeable blemishes on the the barrel are new rust and most likely will come off with prober cleaning.
The S&W No. 2 Army revolver was a popular arm used by many officers, and soldiers during the Civil War, and into the Indian Wars and old west days.
