This clear and clear image of an infantryman was most likely taken at Camp Thomas, Chickamauga, Georgia. Armed with his Springfield 1879 Trapdoor rifle, he stands at rest before a Civil War artillery field piece with unit monument in background.  A company of soldiers is resting in the trees behind him over his left shoulder.
