Shield shaped variant marked TCPC, possibly “practice” in place of qualification.
TCQC Pocket Patch – 116th Armed Cav / TCPC / Tanker, (TCPC- Tank Crew Practice Course)?? Made on dark green cotton twill with all embroidered black thread. Not dated but Circa late 1960’s 80’s. Flask on camera makes the patch color look lighter.
The practice of using these patches began in Germany during the 1960s to early 1980s, but was banned by the army, and this type of a badge was assimilated into the existing marksmanship badges program.
See William K. Emerson’s book, “Marksmanship In The U.S. Army,” page 100 for more in depth information on these un-authorized qualification patches.
3 inches high.
Fine condition. Has been worn on uniform with very light discoloration around black thread.
From the Robert Borrell Artillery Collection.
