This used TCQC patch was pulled from a veteran’s scrapbook.
TCQC Pocket Patch – Distinguished Tank Crew 1966, (TCQC- Tank Crew Qualification Course). Made on dark green cotton twill, with embroidered yellow and black thread. This one was worn on field jacket, etc, and came from a scrapbook- no history.
The practice of using these patches began in Germany during the 1960s to early 1980s, but was banned by the army, and this type of a badge was assimilated into the existing marksmanship badges program.
See William K. Emerson’s book, “Marksmanship In The U.S. Army,” page 100 for more in depth information on these un-authorized qualification patches.
5 1/4 inches long.
From the Robert Borrell Artillery Collection.
