Waterproof Leather Goods Model From U.S. Patent Office 1860, This is a small piece of rubberized leather was a Patent Office model for “Improvement in Waterproof Leather Goods, issued to Samuel LaForge, with original patent office tag, and card stating this is an original model from the Patent Office. I have included a copy of the patent from LaForge, then of Cleveland, Ohio.
The section 8 plus inches high and if unfolded would be an approximate square piece. It is still very pliable after 160+ years.
From the Mike Woshner collection, and featured in his book, “India-Rubber and Gutta Percha In the Civil War Era.” Featured on page 78.
