Description
A nice seated portrait of three NCOs, part of the cavalry detachment at the U.S. Military Academy in the period just a few years after the Civil War. The men are wearing shell jackets, with the two on the left having sergeant’s chevrons. The NCO in the center is identified by a recent collector as “Doyle.” He also wears service stripes on the lower sleeves. The sergeant to the right is wearing sack coat with an armband; I don’t know what this signifies.
Very clear, and in fine condition.
Photographed by C.A. Palmer, Cold Spring, New York.
From the Collection of Mike McAfee.
