Description

Published in 1930, by the Recruiting – Publicity Bureau US Army, this scarce booklet of 43 pages, and well illustrated.  Each spread has the history of a particular post, hospital, etc, with a collage of photographs for that place. This book belonged to Edward A. Graham, Quartermaster Corps, Fort Clark, Texas.  Several pages have annotations in red ink, more of a humorous nature, than anything historically pertinent.

The units covered in this booklet for the 8th Corps area are:

  • BROOKS FIELD, SAN ANTONIO, TX
  • FORT BROWN, TEXAS
  • FORT CLARK, TEXAS
  • FORT CROCKETT, TEXAS
  • FORT D.A. RUSSELL, TEXAS
  • DODD FIELD, TEXAS
  • FITZSIMMONS GENERAL HOSPITAL, DENVER, COLORADO
  • FORT FRANCIS E. WARREN, WYOMING
  • CAMP HARRY J. JONES, ARIZONA
  • FORT HUACHUCA, ARIZONA
  • KELLY FIELD, TEXAS
  • FORT LOGAN, COLORADO
  • FORT McINTOSH, TEXAS
  • NORMOYLE QUARTERMASTER DEPOT, SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS
  • FORT RENO, OKLAHOMA
  • FORT RINGGOLD, TEXAS
  • FORT SAM HOUSTON, TEXAS
  • SAN ANTONIO ARSENAL, TEXAS
  • FORT SILL, OKLAHOMA
  • CAMP STEPHEN D. LITTLE, ARIZONA
  • WILLIAM BEAUMONT GENERAL HOSPITAL, EL PASO, TEXAS
  • A MAP OF THE US, highlighting the 8th Corps Area (and an applied red star indication this officer’s posting at Fort Clark, Texas.

Some of these places I have never heard of, while many have prominent rolls during the Indian Wars era and before.

Fine condition, and most useful as a reference for the Interwar period.
