Description

This wool felt Mexican Sombrero is most likely from the early 1900’s- Mexican Border period.  It is decorated with silver bullion banding on the underside, and around the base of the crown.  Fancy bullion cords and tassels are mounted on the left side of the hat.  Color is a light brownish-tan.  The silk interior has a makers label on it, with horseshoe, with a rider in the center, and “MODA DE MEXICO” across the top.

Two small silver revolvers are mounted on each side of the hat with barrels facing forward.  I pictured the sombrero as I found it, but probably had the rounded crown, and without these full flutes on the side, as you would expect to see on a sombrero.

Leather sweatband and chinstrap are in fine shape.

The brim is 20 inches in diameter.  In fine condition.  Size is approximately a 7 1/8- 7 1/2.

A great looking hat.
