The sergeant from a volunteer regiment stands in studio for his portrait, likely an early war image.  He is holding an Antebellum era sword with ivory grip, and chain guard hilt.  His forage cap is private purchased.

Oval frame is 13 inches high, image in the oval is 8.5 approximately.

The frame surface shows chipping, wear with some of the chipping color retinted.
