Description

American – Kentucky Style Percussion pistol stocked in walnut, with all wood fashioned butt cap and nose cap areas. The brass furniture consists of a simple trigger guard with pineapple shaped finial, and a single ramrod pipe that was most likely intended for, or previously used on another larger pistol or rifle.

The 7.5 inch octagon barrel his held in place by a single wedge, and tang screw. The barrel still retains most of the original brown finish, and has a buckhorn rear sight mounted at the breech. The muzzle shows its seven point/ six groove rifling.

An import lockplate, once in flintlock, has been refinished for percussion. Holes for frizzen and frizzen spring filled, with some of the original engraving and maker name worn away during the refinishing. Lockplate and hammer have the same brown finish. The interior of the two notch tumbler lock has its original parts. The two side plate screws tighten within small round brass plates.

The ramrod may be original and has a simple brass tip.

I have had the barrel off and there is no markings.  A pleasing local gunsmith made pistol made circa 1840s-50s.
