CDV- Ladd & Whitney Memorial, Lowell Mass. Erected in 1865, by the City of Lowell, Massachusetts, in honor of Luther Ladd, and Addison Whitney, who were killed by the mob during the 6th Mass. Infantry going through Baltimore on April 19, 1861. The 6th Mass was the first Mass Regiment to answer President Lincoln’s call for 75,000 troops to suppress the Rebellion.  Ladd and Whitney were the first men to be killed in the Civil War.
