CDV – ID’d 48th Pennsylvania Private.

Henry Krebs enlisted in September of 1862, as a Corporal (hear as a private?), into Co.G , 48th PA Infantry.  By the time he was discharged for promotion into the 35th US Colored Troops as a 2nd and 1st Lieutenant, he had seen a good deal of action in Virginia. This regiment saw action at the 2nd Bull Run, Antietam and Fredericksburg.  They were sent to the Dept. of the Ohio, for a brief time, stationed in Kentucky where this image was taken.  The went east again in were engaged at the Wilderness, Spottsylvania CH, Cold Harbor, and Petersburg Campaign and more.

Krebs was discharged for promotion in Sept. of 1864, going to the 35th U.S. Colored Infantry, into Co. A., mustering out in June of 1866. This unit served in Florida, and South Carolina.
