Description

M2 U.S. Paratrooper Pocket Knife With Lanyard- Schrade Co.

WWII pocket knife carried in the zippered pocket on the jump jacket on the upper chest area near main zipper.  Used for cutting away parachute rigging, and I’m sure for other needed tasks.  Although they have the appearance of a switchblade, the button on the knife only releases the blade.  The sliding lock below the button keeps the blade secure.

Brown plastic grips are fine, as is the OD cotton lanyard. The sling works, releasing the blade which then needs to be hand manipulated to the locking position for use.

The 4″ blade is marked, left side, “SCHRADE/ CUT. CO./ WALDEN,N.Y.” and on the right side, “U.S. PATS./ DEC21,09. / SEPT. 13,10.”  Blade finish on both side shows light improper sharpening.

Overall length is 8 7/8″.

An important Airborne accessory.
